Located in Cundinamarca. It is one hour from Bogota to the North however getting out the city could take a good half hour. It is a marvelous Salt Mine 500 years old. It is located in Nemocon, a small town on the center of the savanna, 65 kms from Bogota. The complex has: the Savanna’s Natural History Museum, it has the Heart Chamber with the biggest piece of salt crystal in the world (1.600 Kg) carved by Miguel Sánchez in the 1960s, the movie set where “The 33” miners movie was filmed -the artists and the whole crew where living in Nemocon for about 2 months-, the Santa Barbara Tank, the Salt Cascade, the Tree of Dreams Look out Point, the Brine Natural Mirrors, the Virgen Carmen Chapel, the Stalactite City, and more.
You can go on a one-day trip from Bogota to Nemocon. Also you can see the Guatavita Lake and the new town Guatavita (50 years old), the old town Guatavita was flooded with water on the 1960th. On the way back you can stop by Zipaquira and admire the beautiful Cathedral this town has. And if you do the tour on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday you can check out the great Andres Carne de Res in Chia.
